Walkability, decreased carbon footprint and a strengthened sense of community and safety are all benefits long associated with mixed use development. Gordon Pointe expands on these by placing affordable housing and affordable commercial spaces side by side. The added benefit is the accessibility of this new economic opportunity for development residents. The Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood has a median age of thirty-four (34) years old and is adjacent to Gordon Square – a premier arts district. Considering those two factors, the retail spaces within Building “A” could be occupied by local entrepreneurs and artists. The variety of unit sizes and minimal number of permanent elements necessary for these types of business make Gordon Pointe perfect for a first brick and mortar studio or store. Affordability and proximity to the rest of Cleveland keep capital costs low and opportunity and benefits high.
